COVID…

Well it finally caught up with me. My first time getting COVID. I tested positive this morning. I just want to cry.

I have cold symptoms, a fever and chills. And I am achy. I am tired and my head hurts. On a scale of sickness, it’s pretty mild, which is reassuring.

I plan to rest for the next 3 days. I’ll cancel Thursday and Friday’s classes. It is such a bummer. I don’t know what the Chinese quarantine protocols are. Maybe by next Monday I’ll be back in the classroom?

I’ve come all this way and now I am stuck in my room for 5 days. On my own. It’s just sad, that’s all.

  1. So sorry to hear that, Melissa! Rotten timing but perhaps inevitable? Hoping you have a very mild case and test negative soon so you can get back to adventures.

  2. Hi Shane, Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I do think that getting Covid is inevitable. My case seems to be mild-to-moderate. Sore throat, rundown, headache, runny nose and fever of 101. I am hoping tmrw will be a bit better. Good news tho is that there aren’t strict quarantine protocols. I can be back in the classroom when I feel good enough. Hoping for Monday. Take care, Melissa

  3. Aww Melissa, that sucks but welcome to the club. I got COVID a few days after starting my job at ILR, so I know how you feel about starting this new journey only to have it shut down for a while. Wah, I know how frustrated you must feel as someone who always wants to be busy and helping people. It’s great to hear that China no longer has isolation protocols! Can you imagine if you had to go to an isolation center in a big gymnasium for 5-10 days and be sleeping in a cot along with dozens of other people? I have read some pretty demoralizing accounts of those places with not enough food and supplies. So there is your small piece of gratitude that you are able to stay in your dorm and get back to the classroom when you feel good enough.
Thinking good healing thoughts for you!
    Hugs,
    Pam

  4. Hi Melissa,
Bethanne forwarded your blog registration to me and I’m delighted to be following your adventure. I’m so sorry it has hit a snag so soon; I guess the good news is that you won’t have to be too concerned about getting COVID for the rest of the trip. I trust you will be able to get good medical care. Being isolated was the worst of it for me. I hope you can enjoy a book or two or have to time research what might be fun to do in the remaining time. Best to you. Love, Diane
